UAE recalls antibiotic for children
Yahoo | The UAE Ministry of Health has ordered pharmacies and medical institutions to withdraw the antibiotic drug Augmentin 250 mg for children, state news agency WAM reported on Wednesday.
A batch of the product manufactured by pharmaceutical company GlaxoSmithKline was said to be conta
minated by small plastic particles, WAM reported.
The Ministry of Health issued a circular to doctors, pharmacies, hospitals and clinics, ordering the withdrawal of batch 517999 of the antibiotic.
The drug was recalled from the market following a manufacturer request, according to Dr Amin Hussain Al Amiri, assistant Undersecretary at the Ministry for medical practice affairs and licensing.
However, all other batches of the product are safe for human consumption, according to Al Amiri.
